These terms govern your use of StarHunt, the website getstarhunt.com and the application app.getstarhunt.com, published by Lucas Lavielle, SIRET 999 676 836 00011, Biarritz, France. Creating an account or using the service means you accept them. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to bind it.
They are written to be read. Where a clause matters to you in practice, we say what it means rather than only what it permits.
StarHunt is a sourcing tool for technical recruiting. It indexes developers from public GitHub data, ranks them by evidence of their public work, and lets you search that index, save candidates to a pipeline and export the results.
StarHunt is not a job board, not an applicant tracking system, and does not contact candidates on your behalf. Outreach is yours to send, and yours to be responsible for.
You need an account to search. You may sign in with GitHub or with an email address. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your credentials, API keys and access tokens private. An API key or token grants the same access as you have, so treat it as a password. You can revoke either at any time from Settings.
One account is personal to one person. Sharing credentials so that several people search under a single seat is not permitted; that is what the Team plan is for.
The free plan includes a limited number of searches. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, our payment provider, and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices are shown before you pay and may be charged in your local currency.
You can cancel at any time from the billing portal in Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not pro-rate refunds for a period already started, except where the law requires it.
We may change prices. A change never applies to a period you have already paid for, and we will tell you before it takes effect on your renewal.
Unlimited searches on a paid plan mean unlimited human use. To keep the service available and to protect the index, we apply usage ceilings that a normal session never reaches: a limit on how many new profiles one account can be shown in a day, and a limit on how fast. Automated access, including through our MCP server, is subject to the same ceilings. Accounts that cross them may be paused temporarily; if that happens to you in the course of real sourcing, write to us and we will lift it.

You may of course keep, export and use the profiles you find for your own recruiting. That is the product. The line is between using the results and taking the index.
Everything StarHunt shows about a developer is already public on GitHub: name, bio, location, company, public email, links, repositories and contribution activity. We use GitHub's official public API and never access private repositories, private activity, or an email a person has not chosen to publish.
This matters for you, not only for us. When you export or save a profile, you decide what to do with that data, and you become responsible for it. Under the GDPR you act as an independent data controller from that point on. In practice that means you must have a lawful basis for contacting the person, tell them where you found them if they ask, honour their rights, and not use the data for anything they could not reasonably expect from a recruiter.
You must not use StarHunt, or the data it returns, to discriminate on any ground protected by law, nor to build a profile of someone for a purpose unrelated to recruitment.
Any developer can remove themselves from our index in one click at app.getstarhunt.com/remove. Removal is permanent on our side and our crawler will not re-index them. It cannot, however, reach a copy you have already exported: erasing that is your obligation, not ours.
StarHunt, its software, its ranking, its curated repository lists and its index remain ours. Using the service gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it for your own recruiting, for as long as your account is active. It gives you no right over the index itself.
What you put in stays yours: your searches, your candidate pipeline, your notes. We do not sell it and we do not share it with other customers.
We aim to keep StarHunt available and accurate, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a given search will return a given result. The index depends on public data we do not control, and it changes.
We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something you rely on, and you are on a paid plan, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of the current period.
StarHunt is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost opportunities, or a hire that did not happen. Our total liability towards you, for any claim, is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, in particular for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or personal injury.
Hiring decisions are yours. StarHunt surfaces public evidence of someone's work; it does not assess a person, and it must not be used as the sole basis for a decision that affects them.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which erases your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks section 4, that does not pay, or that puts the service or other users at risk. Except where the breach is serious or repeated, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it. If we close a paying account without cause, we refund the unused part of the period.
We may update these terms. The date at the top always says when. For a change that materially reduces your rights, we will notify account holders by email at least thirty days before it takes effect, and continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new version. If you do not, you can cancel.
These terms are governed by French law. If we cannot resolve a dispute between us amicably, it will be brought before the competent French courts. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, nor of your right to use an alternative dispute resolution body.
